Tucked away in spa town of Chaves, approx 90 min north of Porto, and close to Portugal’s northern border, Vidago Palace lies in a beautiful transquil setting, surround by moutnains and 250 acres of  mature woods and parkland.

In the beautiful Salão Nobre Dining Room, Portuguese chef Josu Sedanu-Martin (who previously delighted London diners at Quaglino’s and the Ivy) serves up a gourmet take on local favourites.

Things to Do

The magnificent wine region of Alto Douro, a world heritage site, is about an hour's drive away and different tours can be organized including a boat trip down the River Douro or a spectacular helicopter ride across the valley.

This stunning course has two distinct halves. Scottish architect Philip Mackenzie Ross designed the original par-32, nine-hole course on the palace grounds in 1936. It was then renovated, extended and transformed into a championship 18-hole course in 2010 . Its a challenging course, with well-placed and strategic bunkers, combined with elevated tee’s and greens providing stunning views across the local countryside,
